This Mah John set, while beautiful, should only be purchased by those who know how to play the game. The directions to play are not very good (like many translated mah jong sets). One of the piece series needs the numbers painted on, which would not be necassary if you know the asian charecters. Lastly, there are no counting sticks, which some sets supply and others do not. While not necassary to play, the sticks can be helpful.

We are happy to have the set, and find it very, very pretty and still a good value, but it really is not a beginner set at all.

Cheap imitation of the original mahjong board. Its good enough to have a few games but feels very plastic and not as much fun as the original mahjong boards.
