Bad quality Feb 09, 2010 Two-color tone looks very nice, however the edges are rough and it's hard to turn/twist. The string was broken on the next day. Now I only have many little blocks.

Snake Cube Feb 03, 2010 It broke and I had to send it back, very annoying to have something break that you spent money on.

Easy enough to open up;a real challenge to put back together again. Jan 09, 2010 This is what could be considered a classic in hand held puzzles. It has been around for years and made by many manufacturers. It comes in several sizes and in various prices and quality.27 smaller cubes, forming one large cube is the norm.I have seen smaller numbers but not any more than 27,though I wouldn't be surprised that they exist.Even here on Amazon there are several different ones offered.
The concept is simpler than say the Rubik's Cube, and takes no time at all to see how to attempt to solve it.Simply twist and turn the cubes until you form one large cube.Seems easy, everyone wants to have a go at it,but it is more difficult than one thinks. It can just be left around for anyone to pick up and try.I have had one which I tried many times to solve, without success.I also bought one with a solution included, and found that it could be solved quickly with the solution. But don't fret.Just put it away for a while and when you return to it,it will still present a challenge if you don't use the solution again.
I had already realized that all these "snake" cubes are not configured or wired the same;so one solution "does not fit all".In some cases the small cubes are all alike and some are checker-board colored. The colors have nothing to do with the solution;because as far as I can tell there is only one solution.I have one that has the corners of the small cubes rounded, there are three different colored cubes, the workmanship and quality of the finish, makes it a real pleasure to hold and play;compared too some of the cheaper quality ones I've seen.
This puzzle has been given a lot of names;Snake cube,Dragon Tail,Serpent,IQ Cube,Rattler Wooden Puzzle,etc.
In many ways,it reminds me of the Soma Cube ,the 15 Puzzle,or The Tangram Puzzles ;in that it has mass appeal,is simple in concept;and therefore will always interest and entertain just about anyone--that's why I call it a classic.I must also point out that it is also offered here on Amazon, beautifully packaged in a box with a 240 page "Brain Book of Mental gymnastics to train your brain" by Charles Philips. The cube is well made and finished, has checkered colored cubes, and accompanied by a quality printed solution.Phillips simply clls it "The Impossible cube"

Stumped all the chumps in this household and visitors too! Dec 12, 2008 First of all, we buy a lot of these types of brain teasers and puzzles. This is a well built item, very durable. Originally I expected this to be very easy but to date, it remains unsolved. Everyone from the age of ten to mid-forties has enjoyed trying this out...in fact, it quickly became the center of attention this past weekend as out of town family members ranging in age from 12, 19 to 40 attempted to solve it. None did although the 40 year old worked on it for the better part of an entire afternoon [we lost him to this one]. Another great feature about this one is that it is one piece - unlike others that have multiple pieces that easily get lost or scattered about. Due to that, it is an excellent choice for those that may have young children or pets in the household OR for to take along when traveling.
